Poems

Here is Dusk

This heart in winter

Is frozen fast

Sleeping in the freezing blast

Safe in winter’s seasonal store

With creatures who do not

Hunger for

A summer’s day

Of Daisy Stomping

Rowdy screeching

Nettles, hives

And itchy eyes.

Here is dusk and

Quite content

To drowse in dream time’s firmament

In restful shades of midnight blue

And velvet black

While the false parade is marching past

Beating drums rat a tat

All in line rat a tat

Please don’t knock on the way back

For here is the dusk of drowsy things

With eclipse eyes

And Raven wings

Where all that is October sings
